Umpiring, Playing, Coaching next year?

With a fantastic presentation night behind us and the 2016 Winter Netball Season drawing to a close, it is a good time to think about what you are doing next year.

Umpiring, playing and Coaching are all greatly aided by having a strong understanding the Rules of Netball so if you are looking to do any of these (including those girls that are already umpires), we recommend some summer reading:  http://netball.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/netball_rules_2016_english.pdf

A great way to test your knowledge is the online test which can be taken over and over again until you perfect your responses:  http://netball.com.au/get-involved/umpiring/accreditation/section-1-theory-exam/

The more familiar you are with the rules the better umpire, player and coach you will be.  Good luck!

Congratulations to Joeys in the Finals

Congratulations to all Joey players, coaches, managers, time keepers, parents and supporters!

It was a great day at the courts last Saturday watching our Joeys playing, trying their best and displaying true sportsmanship throughout their games:

  • A fantastic effort to our 11C1 team whose 2016 season has unfortunately come to an end – Thank you to Hannah and Kim for all your time and efforts.
  • Our 10A, 13B2, 13C1, 14A2, 14C1, 16A2, 16A3 and 16 C1 teams will be playing again next Saturday
  • Congratulations to our 12B1, 13A and 18Div4 who all will be heading straight to the Grand Finals.

Awesome effort from everyone! Good luck for the next game and Go Joeys!

Also special thanks goes out to our Joeys Umpires who did a great job umpiring the games on Saturday and Sunday. Well done! What an honour it must have been to have such a wonderful opportunity to experience and be part of the Finals Series.

Duties of a Manager & Warm up/Cool Down Guide

At the Coaches & Managers’ meeting last week, it was mentioned that there was another useful document summarising the Duties of a Manager, which is slightly different to the soft copy one sent to you in your folders. Please see the attached document (Joeys – Duties of a Manager) that provides further information for our Managers.

Similarly for our coaches, please find attached a Warm-up & Cool-down guide (FIT4Action-Joeys – Warm-up and Cool-Down Guide) prepared by one of our sponsors, Dave Coulter from Fit4Action.
