Joeys have had a successful season with almost half (12/ 25) of our competition teams making it through to the semis next Saturday. Final standings are;

The annual gala day was held on Sunday 14^th June. The weather was kind this year unlike many on this day in the past and a lot of success and enjoyment was had.  Thanks to Francene Bryce for sending in this report:

U9.1, U9.2 and U9.3 Joeys teams all brought their energy and smiles to the Sutherland Shire Gala Day held at Bellingara. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and all the girls were super keen to strut their stuff on the netball courts. The day started with the traditional march pass. Our girls marched, sang, cartwheeled & danced their way across the courts choreographed by Julia Caraffa (U12) and Niamh Bryce-Stark (U12). Each team of girls played five tough games and, as always, played their hardest for their team. Across the teams we had a few wins, a few draws and a few losses and everyone had loads of fun.

We have a well earned break from club netball for the next three weekends. Play resumes on the 11^th July with Day 12 when the countdown to the semis will begin! Good luck to all teams and thank you for representing the club with great commitment and sportsmanship this season.

To all Volunteers, Coaches, Managers and Umpires of the 2015 Netball Season THANK YOU.  The time and efforts you have generously given have been greatly appreciated. A special mention to Anne Heptinstall for the Loftus Pies and the teams who supported Anne in her endeavours.

It was a privilege to be part of the Joeys Netball community last Saturday as our teams did us proud with their fighting spirits and fantastic sportsmanship. 

Thank you to all coaches, managers, umpires, canteen volunteers and supporters for your the time, support and encouragement given throughout the 2014 netball season. Your support is necessary for our players to compete and achieve the best netball they can .

We had 9 teams on the courts in last Saturday’s final. Of these three were successful and now go on to the Grand Final this coming Saturday.

 Congratulations to our 10C1-Team 2 , 18.1 Div 3’s and our Senior B4’s who, like our 13B1s,14C1’s,16A4’s and Senior C7’s  will battle it out for the premiership title this coming Saturday.

To the players and coaches of these teams, the achievement of making a Grand Final is enormous and one that not everyone will experience in a lifetime! Playing in a grand final is a memory  to cherish . So remember not to lose sight of the big picture and the team effort required. Play to your potential and enjoy the atmosphere created all for you! The rest of us will look forward to seeing you on the courts in the maroon, gold and white, representing us all! Play fair and remember win or lose, celebrate the achievement of making it to that big game. 

On behalf of the club I would like to wish  players and coaches in this week’s Grand finals every success, Go Joeys!!!

Commiserations to the finalists 10C1-Team 3,13A’s, 13C1’s, 14A2’s, 16A2 and Senior A5’s– don’t be too disappointed, you should be proud of your efforts. Celebrate coming in third place, it is a huge achievement.

 To the 12AR’and 12B2’s  who played in the PWD game at 8am and to Jo Henderson for coordinating it, a very special thank you. I believe you made lots of people less fortunate than us very happy when they won!! Please be proud of your efforts there, these things we do for others make our community a better and stronger one.

Congratulations to those teams who made it through to the semis this weekend. It’s a very exciting part of the season for the club and players. Please take the time to read through this report as there is something for everyone!!

To those teams whose season is now over, I hope you have enjoyed the fun, fitness and community atmosphere that team sport brings. Celebrate the highlights of the season and please support those teams that made it through to the semis. To the coaches and managers of these teams, thank you for all you have done for the girls and for your continued support of the Club. And to our parent canteen volunteers, thank you also for your efforts, the club can’t run without you!

Some important notices:

• Canteen duty this Saturday from 12-4.30pm. Joeys have to supply 3 volunteers throughout this period. See roster below.
• Important procedures and tips for Finals series were sent to managers last week and have been included again on this newsletter. Please have all parent helpers and players aware of rules for the finals series. It is recommended that  all teams should have one player as a captain throughout the finals series who can speak on behalf of the team if necessary. Please remember the captain is the only Joeys representative allowed to approach an umpire.
• Joeys have to supply a team for PWD game next Saturday,23/8/14 (Finals). Seeing the 12AR’s and 12B2’s games were washed out during the season can the managers Jo Henderson and Mike Breen ask for 7 girls to volunteer. The time is 8am and court is to be confirmed.
• Summer Comp Registration is now due. Please forward team sheets to our head registrar urgently at gmjlkfamily@iprimus.com.au

Congratulations to the sixteen teams  that made it through- we will be cheering for you. To the coaches of these teams, your work is not quite finished, you have a very exciting part of the season yet to go!  If you need a hand with preparation remember the Energy Netball website, or please ask me to arrange for a mentor.  The girls will need to be prepared for the excitement of the atmosphere, the crowds can be overwhelming so good luck encouraging them to enjoy it and embrace the moment by showing everyone what they can do!! 

Our Nursery games, 8’s and 9’s finished at Seymour Shaw on Saturday with an SSNA Presentation. Our 8’s have done very well in their 1^st year of netball and are learning the rules quickly. We are looking forward to seeing our talented 9 year olds playing full competition rules next year on the asphalt courts.

Our youngest members have completed 7 weeks of their 10 week program at Seymour Shaw on Friday afternoons and I believe are loving the netball experience. A huge thank you to Jo Henderson and her team of  teenagers helpers from St Pats who turn up each week despite the cold, for the benefit of our littlest ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank:

Olivia O’Rourke, Madison Mitsoulis, Jade Messih, Monique Agius, Lara Giles, Grace Mulqueeney, Ava Lenton, Elise Mallia, Gabriella Ivancic and Sarah Bugeja for the support they have given to Joeys Netball Club. Your time contributions are greatly appreciated.

After being washed out Day 8, the Year 1 girls commenced the next stage of this program and participated in a game on Saturday afternoon on Day 9. They will continue these games till Day 14.as long as the weather allows. Thank you to Lauren Dalton, our Nursery Games Coordinator for making this happen.
