Filling in Score Sheets

Please ensure you complete:

  • the positions of the 7 players who take the court each quarter
  • PRINT the names of the umpires and scorers, this really helps if difficulties arise later
  • When borrowing, write the name of the borrowed player AND the team they are registered in,  in the space provided at the bottom.
  • Another borrowing  rule that we forgot to mention at the coaches and managers meeting is that of a borrowed player who is playing her first and only game for the day. If a borrowed player has a bye in her own team then she can be borrowed to play for another team as an 8th player. This is very helpful to know if your team only has 7 players so please look carefully at the Day Sheet each week and check the teams who have a bye.If she takes the court please sign her on please make sure you write (first game) next to her name as well as the grade she is registered in. Please contact me for if you wish to use this  borrowing so I can keep tab of the number of times players are borrowed and advise accordingly

Secretary’s Update April 2014

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Joeys Netball Club for the 2014 Winter  Competition. We have 32 teams representing our club this season including  4 Net Set Go teams and 28 competition teams. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who are coaching  and managing our teams, without you, our girls couldn’t take the court.

To our brilliant committee, thank you for a very smooth start in getting the teams on the court , that first play day is always such a reminder of your hard work behind the scenes.  The time and effort you have given is greatly acknowledged and appreciated by all Joeys members.

It is very fortunate that canteen duty for the club is now over until the finals series. Thank you to our many volunteers for your time and for helping the club tick this job off the list.

Our next play day is Day 3 which takes place this coming Saturday 3rd May. Please see the website for the Joeys day sheet.

PLAYERS STILL NEEDED

We have had much success recruiting suitable players for our teams with only seven players. However  we are still looking for players who are turning 12 this season. Should you know of anyone who may be interested in playing could you please contact me as soon as possible.

BORROWING PLAYERS

For those teams who need to borrow a player, please refer to the rules below

To take the court, a team needs 5 original players. In this case they are allowed to borrow TWO players from lower graded or aged teams (see 2nd game rules). If you have 6 original players then you are only allowed to borrow ONE player. This means that at any time when a team is borrowing, there is no 8th player or reserve unless the team the player is borrowed from has a bye that week and the game becomes their first and only.

Borrowed players must have their photo sighted and  be signed on at control BEFORE the game. Their name, usual grade and position they are playing needs to be added to the scoresheet.

A player can only be borrowed TWICE by any one team. Should they be borrowed a third time by the same team then they automatically become part of that team and cannot return to their original team.

Could I remind all coaches to contact me about borrowing players and also keep a record of borrowed players in your folder to avoid memory lapses and disappointment later in the season?

The 2nd Game Rule for 2014 has been forwarded to coaches; it should also available on the SSNA website.

Secretary’s Report – Grand Final

It was a privilege to be part of the St Joseph’s Netball community last Saturday as our teams did us proud with their fighting spirits and fantastic sportsmanship.  What a great way to finish off a wonderful season with so many of our players enjoying and competing in the grand final.

Secretary’s Report – Finals

We had 7 teams on the courts in last Saturday’s final. Of these 7, four of them were successful and now go on to the Grand Final this coming Saturday.

Commiserations to the finalists 13AR’s, 13C1’s and 14A2’s– don’t be too disappointed, you should be proud of your efforts. Celebrate coming in third place, it is a huge achievement.

A big thank you to the 9 volunteers who covered our canteen duty last Saturday, we can now enjoy the Grand final knowing our turn is complete!! To the 14B1’s who donned their uniforms again to play in the PWD game at 8am and to Louise Greig for coordinating it, a very special thank you. I believe you made lots of people less fortunate than us very happy when they won!! Please be proud of your efforts there, these things we do for others make our community a better and stronger one.

Keep your training and fitness up and don’t get complacent as you are now the team to beat!!

Secretary’s Report Day 14

To those teams whose season is now over, I hope you have enjoyed the fun, fitness and community atmosphere that team sport brings. Celebrate the highlights of the season and please support and celebrate with us, the teams that made it through to the semis. To the coaches and managers of these teams, thank you for all you have done for the girls and for your continued support of the Club. And to our parent canteen volunteers, thank you also for your efforts, the club can’t run without you!

Congratulations to the fourteen teams that made it through- we will be cheering for you. To the coaches of these teams, your work is not quite finished, you have a very exciting part of the season yet to go!  If you need a hand with preparation remember the Energy Netball website, or please take Jo Henderson or David Bulmer up on their offer to support you if you need it. The girls will need to be prepared for the excitement of the atmosphere, so good luck encouraging them to enjoy it and embrace the moment by showing everyone what they can do!!

Our Nursery games, 8’s and 9’s finished at Seymour Shaw on Saturday with an SSNA Presentation. Our 8’s have done very well in their 1st year of netball and are learning the rules quickly. We are looking forward to seeing all our talented 9 year olds playing full competition rules next year on the asphalt courts.

Thankyou to Net Set Go Helpers

Our Net Set Go Program finished last Friday and was a huge success with the girls and the parents. Not only were they the best dressed girls in the park, but the detail of the program allowed them to develop their skills beautifully and give them a wonderful foundation of netball. Congratulations to Jo Henderson and her outstanding team of helpers; Isabelle, Jackie, Lara, Tessa, Sophie, Brooke, Ashleigh and Claudia on the success of the program and thank you for the care, effort and time you have given to our youngest members.

Blacktown Gala Day Results

The Blacktown Gala Day had on the 28th July was a huge success. The 12A’s came in 3rd on the day and the 10A’s came in 4th place. There was only one downer in the day when Lucy Filetti hurt her finger and has since been told she has a slight fracture in it. Lucy has probably been the unluckiest in the club this season with her broken collar bone Day One and now this. We wish Lucy another speedy recovery and hope her misfortunes this season don’t deter her from the game in the future. Apart from that, the day was a wonderful relaxed yet competitive time for the girls and their families.
