The Blacktown Gala Day had on the 28th July was a huge success. The 12A’s came in 3rd on the day and the 10A’s came in 4th place. There was only one downer in the day when Lucy Filetti hurt her finger and has since been told she has a slight fracture in it. Lucy has probably been the unluckiest in the club this season with her broken collar bone Day One and now this. We wish Lucy another speedy recovery and hope her misfortunes this season don’t deter her from the game in the future. Apart from that, the day was a wonderful relaxed yet competitive time for the girls and their families.

After trialling from a squad of about 50 girls last Sunday night, Hayley has been selected for the NSW Netball Academy! The panel only selected 12 girls and Hayley is one of four of the girls selected from SSNA.
Congratulations Hayley!!! Such a huge achievement for yourself, the club and the SSNA
Following her performance at the State Age Championships this year, the SSNA presented Hayley Attenborough with the ‘Pat Martin Memorial Award’. “I feel so privileged to have received such a prestigious award. Having my name engraved next to players such as April Letton, who plays for Australia is unreal”.
Welcome Back Everyone! It seems quite some time since we all had a game of netball due to the wet weather and school holidays, which of course I hope you enjoyed!
How fantastic it was to find us blessed with wonderful weather for the busy schedule of netball!!! Friday afternoon Net Set Go; Saturday was Round 9 and 10 being played for many of our teams; the Nursery Teams participating in their games and on Sunday the 8 and 9’s Gala Day! Hopefully everyone had a great time playing on Saturday with some pleasing results. It is hard to play two games in 1!!!
On Sunday our 8’s and 9’s looked great participating in the March Past and enjoyed themselves playing their rounds of games. Thank you to all involved for helping make this day so successful.
To all Coaches, managers and umpires we thank you enormously for your efforts so far this season and in anticipation for the remaining weeks.
Also we have some new volunteers stepping up to help out for which the Club is very grateful. Thank you.
Ashlee Tozer and Hayley Attenborough participated in the U15’s State Age Championships. Congratulations to both of these girls who came away with many great experiences and luckily not too serious injuries! Look out for these girls as I am sure they would love to chat to you about the Championships.
Don’t forget to look up on the website for photos of the girls!
Joeys General Club Meeting is Monday 22nd July at 7.30pm at Kareela Golf Club. All Are Welcome.
Happy Term 3 Anne Heptinstall

Good luck to Ashlee Tozer and Hayley Attenborough as they prepare for the State Age Championships to be held at Campbelltown on 29-30 June and 1st July. (U15, U14, U13, U12)
We wish the girls the best of luck as they prepare for the next level. Details of the location are on the SSNA website for those who would like to support the girls and watch some great netball.
I have been speaking to one of our coaches about entering teams of 10 years and up in the Blacktown Carnival to be held on Sunday 28th July. Carnivals are a great way to prepare for the finals series. I have copied the details from the Blacktown Netball Association Website for you below. Can coaches please discuss this with your team, should you be interested you need to get onto the SSNA website which has a link to the forms that need to be filled out? The completed form needs to be forwarded to myself as soon as possible with payment of $33 per team. Entries must go to SSNA via the club secretary six weeks prior to the carnival date so please don’t delay. The only other cost would be to pay for the umpire for the day, these details will be supplied upon application.
