Joeys Grading Guidelines 2016

GRADING GUIDELINES – 10th February 2016

Overview:

– Joeys is a grading club so ALL players must grade unless otherwise specified.

– Joeys aims to make the grading process fair, transparent in its organisation and ultimately in the best interests of the Club overall.

– If a player is unable to grade, a written letter/email explaining the missed grading must be sent to the Grading Convenor prior to the grading day. (Where possible, players may grade with other age groups to satisfy grading requirements).

– Whilst special considerations and individual requests can be made to the Grading Convenor, Joeys cannot guarantee any selections.

– Joeys selectors grade on individual netball skills and positional abilities, however will also consider these within potential TEAM frameworks.

Guidelines:

– Grading is very much based on any individual’s netball ability and performance during the grading process, however, as grading is a ‘one-off’ event, the selectors should also (where appropriate) consider the following:

• Coach’s Report from the previous season
• Representative playing experience
• Previous season results and statistics
• Player combinations on show during grading

– The grading process is highly confidential and should not be discussed outside of the selection team (unless with the Grading Convenor and/or President).

– Selectors are chosen according to their netball knowledge, impartiality and fairness.

– Selectors will not have any family connections to the age group for which they are selecting.

– Where possible Joeys will appoint an independent selector from outside the Club for each age group.

– All players grading in any given age group should have approximately the same opportunity on court ie. They should play their chosen position at least twice and their second position at least once. As certain positions can be more popular than others, players may be asked to play outside of their nominated position to ensure the two teams on the court are complete. Selectors will be informed when players are playing outside of their nominated position although player skill should still be displayed and considered.
– The Grading Convenor will organize the team selection sheets for each grading age. These MUST be adhered to, to ensure parity for all players. If there is an opportunity for additional ‘selector choice’ within any age group, this will be communicated from the selectors to the players at grading.

– Joeys is a family club that caters for all levels of netballers. Whilst we appreciate that playing netball with established friends is often desirable, we would also hope that the opportunity to play with other girls and establish new friendships would be a hallmark of our club.

Uniform Update – 4 February 2016

The Club is currently looking into new player singlets, which may become available during the 2016 netball season.  The design is currently going through the approval process of the Joey’s Netball Committee.

In the meantime, new players who register to play with Joey’s in 2016 will receive a 2015 singlet free of charge when they purchase a Joey’s netball skirt.  For all Joey’s players, if the singlet does not fit as desired, please either adjust the singlet straps or wear a black crop top under the playing singlet.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Club at joeyspresident@gmail.com should you have any questions.
