Uniform Update

Important information

Thank you to those who have purchased and picked up your Joeys Netball Uniforms (2015 design) Skirt and Singlet at our recent registration and grading days.

Following on from this we have had a number of people making orders at the above days plus on line. Thank you for doing this. We have documented your requests and they have been updated into our spreadsheet.

Due to low stock in a few sizes we are working towards getting these items to you all. We will be in touch with you directly with details.

Further to the above, could we now ask that everyone please check their Joeys uniform from last year and ensure it is the correct size for your daughter. If you are needing to order a new skirt, could you please urgently contact us with your skirt size by Monday night (22 February), as we will be sending through the final skirt order to the supplier on Tuesday. Due to the Chinese New Year closures where our suppliers factory is located, we urgently need to get this order completed.

With regard to the Joeys Singlets, everyone is to commence the season in their 2015 Joeys singlet with a black crop top (racer back) underneath and we will update you about the ETA of the newly designed Joeys singlet as we receive further information.

Please contact:

Sharon: sharondarrin2003@yahoo.com.au

Joeys Grading Guidelines 2016

GRADING GUIDELINES – 10th February 2016

Overview:

– Joeys is a grading club so ALL players must grade unless otherwise specified.

– Joeys aims to make the grading process fair, transparent in its organisation and ultimately in the best interests of the Club overall.

– If a player is unable to grade, a written letter/email explaining the missed grading must be sent to the Grading Convenor prior to the grading day. (Where possible, players may grade with other age groups to satisfy grading requirements).

– Whilst special considerations and individual requests can be made to the Grading Convenor, Joeys cannot guarantee any selections.

– Joeys selectors grade on individual netball skills and positional abilities, however will also consider these within potential TEAM frameworks.

Guidelines:

– Grading is very much based on any individual’s netball ability and performance during the grading process, however, as grading is a ‘one-off’ event, the selectors should also (where appropriate) consider the following:

• Coach’s Report from the previous season
• Representative playing experience
• Previous season results and statistics
• Player combinations on show during grading

– The grading process is highly confidential and should not be discussed outside of the selection team (unless with the Grading Convenor and/or President).

– Selectors are chosen according to their netball knowledge, impartiality and fairness.

– Selectors will not have any family connections to the age group for which they are selecting.

– Where possible Joeys will appoint an independent selector from outside the Club for each age group.

– All players grading in any given age group should have approximately the same opportunity on court ie. They should play their chosen position at least twice and their second position at least once. As certain positions can be more popular than others, players may be asked to play outside of their nominated position to ensure the two teams on the court are complete. Selectors will be informed when players are playing outside of their nominated position although player skill should still be displayed and considered.
– The Grading Convenor will organize the team selection sheets for each grading age. These MUST be adhered to, to ensure parity for all players. If there is an opportunity for additional ‘selector choice’ within any age group, this will be communicated from the selectors to the players at grading.

– Joeys is a family club that caters for all levels of netballers. Whilst we appreciate that playing netball with established friends is often desirable, we would also hope that the opportunity to play with other girls and establish new friendships would be a hallmark of our club.

Uniform Update – 4 February 2016

The Club is currently looking into new player singlets, which may become available during the 2016 netball season.  The design is currently going through the approval process of the Joey’s Netball Committee.

In the meantime, new players who register to play with Joey’s in 2016 will receive a 2015 singlet free of charge when they purchase a Joey’s netball skirt.  For all Joey’s players, if the singlet does not fit as desired, please either adjust the singlet straps or wear a black crop top under the playing singlet.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Club at joeyspresident@gmail.com should you have any questions.

Father Bob’s Retirement – Our Farewell to him

Father Bob’s final weekend as our Parish Priest will be the 30/31st of January, 2016.

Fr Bob’s retirement will be marked at each of the Masses by:

  • our prayerful presence,
  • by a Parishioner speaking on our behalf,
  • the presentation of Book with Farewell messages and a collective money gift, and
  • by our sharing a cuppa with Fr Bob and each other after each of the Masses.

It would be good if as many as possible of the Joey’s Sports Club members could attend Masses on 30 and 31 January – please encourage others to attend: Masses:6pm Saturday & 8am & 10am Sunday – to acknowledge Fr Bob’s time as our Parish Priest. Contributions to the Parish gift can be made:

  • by placing a financial contribution in the specially marked envelopes & putting it on the collection at the Masses in the weekends before 30th January 2016 or
  • by dropping any contribution into the Parish Office, at the rear of the Presbytery; &
  • by writing a message in the Farewell Book, available at the Masses, or sending to me, a card, or some momento to be inserted in the Farewell Book.
