Congratulations to Dearne Jones on receiving SSNA Coach of the Month Award, nominated by her 18-3’s team. Both of Dearne’s teams topped her day with great wins.
Blacktown Carnival
I have been speaking to one of our coaches about entering teams of 10 years and up in the Blacktown Carnival to be held on Sunday 28th July. Carnivals are a great way to prepare for the finals series. I have copied the details from the Blacktown Netball Association Website for you below. Can coaches please discuss this with your team, should you be interested you need to get onto the SSNA website which has a link to the forms that need to be filled out? The completed form needs to be forwarded to myself as soon as possible with payment of $33 per team. Entries must go to SSNA via the club secretary six weeks prior to the carnival date so please don’t delay. The only other cost would be to pay for the umpire for the day, these details will be supplied upon application.

Secretary’s Report Day 5
I hope both players and their families are enjoying the spirit of the game as we approach half way in the season. The weather has been good to us so far and hopefully will continue to do so. The temperature at the 8am games are a challenge now so coaches please encourage the girls to get there in plenty of time to warm up in order to prevent injury. I have placed each team’s results on the ladder in this newsletter just to have a look at the bigger picture. It’s great to see so many of our teams competitive. For coaches who feel this is not the case and wish to discuss the progress of their team or have a mentor at training or at a game, please contact me at joeysnetball@hotmail.com.
Remember to encourage the girls that in team sport it’s important for all to represent the club well and play to the best of their ability!
Nursery Games
Thank you to Tracey Borst who has offered to be our nursery games co-ordinator this season. Nursery games will commence on Day 8 which is Saturday 8th June at Seymour Shaw and will finish on Day 14 which is Saturday 10th August. As the majority of our Net Set Go girls are in Year 1 we would like to offer all girls the opportunity to play in the Saturday games. If you would like your daughter to enter can you please speak to Tracey on Friday at Net Set Go or email her on tracemac74@hotmail.com as soon as possible as this date is drawing near. You will need to give her your daughter’s full name and nominate some friends that she would like to play with.
Each team will be required to have a person on the court to coach each week. If you are able to assist please let Tracey know.
President’s Report Day 5
Congratulations Joeys! You are all playing some fantastic netball and most importantly learning great sportsmanship whilst having fun! It is very exciting to scroll down on the Joeys and SSNA websites looking at teams results!
Don’t forget to keep looking at the Joey’s website for latest news & dates and also the SSNA website has had an overhaul and is much easier to use now.
Well done to the under 8’s, 9’s and Net Set Go Nursery players! Keep having fun while learning many netball skills!
This week in the Leader keep an eye out in the sports section as you may spot someone you know!
Thank you once again to all our sponsors and in particular we welcome Tony’s Pizza and Pasta in Jannali. Please don’t forget to mention that you’re a Joeys Club member when visiting or purchasing from any of our sponsors ! They would like to hear how your netball season is going!
Good Luck for Day 6.
8’s and 9’s Gala Day
The 8 and 9’s annual Gala Day will be held on Sunday 23rd June at the Bellingara Courts. The day commences at 8.30am with a March Past. The games kick off at 9am and finish by2pm.
Could managers please ask your players if they are interested in playing in the gala day. If your numbers are low, then we can look at combining two teams into one so those that want to play, do not miss out. Each team has to have a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 10 players.
Each team is required to pay their umpire $40 on the day. This is the only cost incurred for the day. The umpires will be organised by the club.
The draw is to be collected from control by the team manager at the beginning of the day.
Players should assemble in Club order on Courts 13-20 from 8.30am – coaches and managers are the only people who should accompany the players to the assembly point.
Trophies will be awarded for the March Past winners and runners-up, and for the Best Club Mascot.
Can managers please forward the names of those girls in your team who would like to take part to the secretary at joeysnetball@hotmail.com as soon as possible as entries close on Saturday 15th June
Old Stock Sale
An old stock sale will be available at the Joeys photos site on Day 7 the 1st June from 8.30am till 11am. The old stock includes the sublimated polo shirts and the old style rugby shirts which will be sold for $10 per piece. We would like to encourage our coaches and managers to purchase them in order to make you more identifiable at the courts whilst promoting the club at the same time. Sizes and numbers are limited so get in early. In addition, there are some larger sized hoodies that will be available for sale at $15 each.
