Players Wanted – 15/16 Years

If anyone knows girls turning 15 or 16 years this year who are interested in playing netball can you please ask them to contact me as a matter of urgency or forward me their details so I can contact them? Injury is playing havoc to some of our players in teams with only 7 players and it would be great to recruit an eighth player for these teams to avoid borrowing.

President’s Report Day 4

I hope your Day 4 game was enjoyable and everyone had a great Mother’s Day!!

Congratulations to all Club players who recently were selected by their schools to try out for the NSW Catholic Combined Schools Netball team. That is a wonderful experience to have had in your Netball career. Congratulations to Hayley Attenborough for her selection, she will now compete in the Australian Catholic Schools Championships.

Secretary’s Report Day 4

I hope everyone is into the swing of the season and players and their families are enjoying the competition and friendships that team sport promotes. Welcome aboard to Jodie Craig and Joanne Vasquez who late registered last week in our B2’s. I happened to be privy to watching their talents at the 4pm game at the Ridge on Saturday. Jo and Jodie, your basketball skills were very noticeable, just remember there are length restrictions in netball as to how far you can throw the ball!!!!!

Thank you to Alani Sullivan and Brittany Robertson for playing in the PWD team. The game would not have been able to go ahead without your generosity; I would like to commend the honour you brought to our club through your charitable ways.

Coaching Drills

The Net Set Go program purchased by the club has some great coaching resources that Jo Henderson has kindly copied and passed on to me to distribute. Any coaches interested in a copy can collect them from me. I am at Bellingara courts coaching on Tuesday and Thursday or at Bellingara most of Saturday. Please email me if this doesn’t suit to make other arrangements.

Also don’t forget the great resource we have at Energy Netball, www.energynetball.com.au.

New Format Score Sheets – Some Pointers

The SSNA are still finding errors on score sheets. Can managers and others who assist at times please read through these necessary details:

The positions of the 7 players on the court should be completed each quarter. If you have only been completing the first quarter and have 8 players, then SSNA will just assume only 7 players played the entirety of the game. This could have adverse effects on players during the finals quarters

Put dashes in the quarters next to those players who are away or having a turn off

If you are borrowing a player(s), place their name and their regular team in the space provided at the bottom of the score sheet and record the positions played in each quarter (eg Charlotte Bishop, 12A)

Net Set Go Program Success

Our nursery program commenced last Friday at Seymour Shaw. Twenty eight 5 and 6 year old girls turned up very excited and keen to learn the rules and play with friends. Jo Henderson, our Net Set Go coordinator and her wonderful team of teenager volunteers were in total order and control. The program, written by Netball NSW, is an excellent one and the pink netball bags, balls and t-shirts were a huge success with the girls. Parents, you will need to have those cameras ready next week when they all turn up in their new pink attire!

Shooting Clinic News!

The Shooting Clinic held on Monday 29th April was a recent highlight. We had 27 girls from our 10, 11, 12 and 13 year old teams, turn up to refine their technique and practise their shooting skills. Can coaches please encourage the girls to demonstrate what they learnt at training and continue practising several times a week. These programs can’t go ahead without the generous support of our helpers. This year coaches Chloe Tozer and Gabi Bishop helped me out along with our 16A’s shooters Ashlee Tozer, Annelie Thatcher and Sarah Brenton.  A big thank you to them all, they were wonderful role models and coaches to our younger members, the benefits of their generosity should play out ahead.

Canteen Duty at Bellingara 22nd June 2013

Joeys have been asked to supply 63 volunteers over the course of Day 9 for a one hour duty at the Bellingara canteens. This number has slightly increased on last year’s requests which now will require the majority of teams to find 3 volunteers. Apart from the final series, this is the only time the club is seeking your support for canteen duty.  Can you please let your team manager know if you are able to help out, who in turn can forward names on to me? A huge thanks to Frann Davies and Angie Webb from the 12B3’s for being the first to volunteer!!!!  It is etiquette at Joeys that coaches and managers are not expected to volunteer for canteen.

President’s Report Day 3

Welcome back everyone!   I hope you all enjoyed the school holidays!   If you were able to attend the clinics during the break I am sure you enjoyed yourself while learning new skills at the same time. Thank you to Liza James and managers for organising the girls who participated in the SSNA school holidays clinic and the Joeys Shooting Clinic. Thank you to all our club members for helping run the Shooting Clinic for 10’s -13’s. Our players are very fortunate to have these opportunities on offer throughout the season.

On behalf of the Committee I would like to give a very warm welcome to all our sponsors and in particular our new sponsors for 2013. “Femme Fatale Skin and beauty”, “ NumberWorks’nWords”,  “ What a Shot’ sports Photographer and “ Bullie Graphics”. A special note of thanks is extended to Craig Bucknall of Bullie Graphics who has been very patient and supportive as the website was being created.

Congratulations and well done to Jo Henderson and her team of helpers. Last Friday they launched the Nursery Netball Programme for 2013…..NET SET GO! There were 30 eager Year 1 and Kinder girls who were very pleased with their pink bags and netball! We wish them all the best as they begin their fantastic introduction to netball! Thank you also to all the extra helpers. Your time and support is greatly appreciated.
